ATTENTION PLEASE!

HELLO! Meet Mary (Mary is Married).

We stumbled upon each other's blogs and have been in touch ever since because we have SO much in common!! I think you guys would LOVE her blog- she loves Jesus, is a newlywed, takes amazing pictures, and is overall just awesome! Well, I'll just let you read for yourself because she answered some questions for me.

1. What made you want to start a blog?
Starting a blog came at the right time after becoming a newlywed. I wanted to be able to look back on the first few years of our marriage- just to remember what we were doing, what we were learning, and how we were loving.  I also love being creative, especially trying to be creative through photography. I wanted a place to share photos. I also wanted a place to speak about things that are important to me... to share my heart.

2. The pictures on your blog are amazing! When did you become interested in photography and how are you SO good? =)
Thank you so much. I am always humbled when a person tells me that they like a photo. That always puts a big smile on my face. I fell in love with photography in college when I got my first digital camera. It was VERY basic. I just remember being the one who was taking a million pictures of myself (for the facebook generation) and of anything I laid my eyes on. It was pretty nauseating, and still is probably. I would upgrade cameras every so often, and currently I am in LOVE with my beginner SLR Nikon D5000 camera. It takes great quality photos. Since switching to an SLR I have tried to focus my passion and increase my skill. My main goal with my photography is to get my camera off automatic, and to be able to take amazing shots of my family (our future kiddos), traveling, and home life. I want to capture every moment in a picture. God just made me like that.

3. Isn't newlywed life great? I'd love to hear your story about how you met your husband...
Newlywed life is FABULOUS! It is a learning experience for sure, but one that I would never ever ever ever trade. My husband is my greatest gift from God (besides my salvation!) Briefly, James and I met in college. I was from Tennessee and James was from Maryland. Our college was in Tennessee. For spring break, my college roommate and I were traveling to Maryland (where she was from). James did not have a car down at school that year, so he was needing a ride home to Maryland. A mutual friend of James and my roommate set the trip up. My roommate and I drove an 8 hour car ride with this random guy. Turns out we both liked the car ride more than we thought. After a little time had passed back at school James left an anonymous "love" letter in my school mailbox. I thought my girlfriends had played a sick joke on me. Turns out James wanted to get my attention. Well, he did. He even got my heart. We dated for 5 years (3 years long distance) and were married August 14, 2010!

4. What are the things you are most passionate about in life and what do you wish to share with your readers?
I am most passionate about Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and Savior. He changed my life and continues to change me daily. I want my readers to see Him for who He really is. I want to share His love, joy, peace, and truth through my own struggles and victories.

I am also passionate about photography, as mentioned above, and nutrition. I hope my readers will join me as I seek to take steps to prevent disease instead of treating disease. Prevention starts with good nutrition. I also hope my readers see an imperfect person, without all the answers. I just want to be transparent and give advice as I learn it and seek to apply it personally.

5. I see that you are a dietician... explain a typical day in your career field.
Yes, I am a Registered Dietitian, RD. I also have my Master's in Clinical Nutrition. Currently I am working as the clinical dietitian in a long term care facility that specializes in Alzheimer's care, long term care, and short term rehab. My responsibilities in this setting include: completing nutrition assessments which determine any nutritional problems, providing nutrition interventions, and monitoring interventions as well as weights, wounds, intake, etc... I also help manage our kitchen staff and the food that is prepared and delivered to residents. Overall, I love working with the geriatric population!

6. Quick question. Favorite movie. GO!
That's easy. Serendipity is my favorite movie. It just takes me to another place. I love this love story. Setting: New York City, and bonus, a coffee shop restaurant!

7. God is a huge part of your life (as He is mine)- What is one thing you would like to share with others about Him?
He can change your life if you will let Him. He loves you and created you for a purpose. You were made with longings by Him so that He could fill them!

8. List of favorite singers. Top 5. Do it.
Easy. John Mayer, Paramore, Mae, Copeland, Relient K.
I love music and going to shows!

9.  Your pantry items kind of makes me feel terrible lol. Do you always eat healthy? What is your biggest weakness with food? (ex Ice cream, chocolate, mexican food, etc.)
Oh girl please. I do not always eat healthy. Ask my husband. I try to eat healthy, exercise, and take quality nutritional supplements to achieve optimal health the majority of the time. Getting married and working full time however has changed my whole routine. Trying to get my balance back. I am a dietitian, so I need to lead by example. I however am not perfect.  I will always have something I could improve on and do better. I am taking it one day at a time. My two biggest weaknesses are CHOCOLATE and PIZZA!

10. One reason why I should come check out your blog:
Here are a few reasons: on tuesdays I will feature "Healthbit Tuesday" which will just be a post about health. That could be nutrition, exercise, sleep, products, etc.  I might also do a "Saturday Bakes" post on certain saturdays that I have time to try out a new baking recipe. I LOVE BAKING! Sundays I will be posting a "Sunday Verse" just to get the truth of God's word out there and to offer encouragement to others. I hope to regularly get these things going each week. In-between all that I will just be posting about life and sharing photos. Who knows where this blog will go, but for now I'll start there!

I encourage everyone to go check out her blog because I know you will love it. You can go straight to her blog here or you can click here to follow her on bloglovin!
